If you want to use your laptop as a desktop computer, you may want to connect it to a monitor. This will give you a larger screen to work with, as well as improve your productivity. Here are a few things you need to do in order to get your laptop to display on a monitor.
- First, you need to connect the monitor to your laptop. You can do this with an HDMI cable, a DVI cable, or a VGA cable. If your monitor has a DisplayPort, you can also use a DisplayPort cable. Make sure that the cable is plugged into the correct port on your laptop. For example, an HDMI cable will only work if it is plugged into an HDMI port. If you’re not sure which port to use, consult your laptop’s manual.
- Once the monitor is connected to your laptop, you need to configure your laptop’s display settings. To do this, go to the Control Panel and click on “Display.”
- In the Display settings window, click on the “Settings” tab. Here, you will see a list of all the monitors that are connected to your laptop. Select the monitor that you want to use as your primary display. In the “Multiple displays” drop-down menu, select “Extend these displays.” This will allow you to use your laptop’s screen and the monitor as one extended desktop.
- Click “OK” to save your changes. Your laptop’s screen will go blank for a moment, and then it will reappear on the monitor. You can now use your laptop and the monitor as one extended desktop.
If you want to disconnect the monitor, simply go back to the Display settings window and select the “Duplicate these displays” option. This will put your laptop’s display back on its own screen. You can then disconnect the monitor.
