Most people think that you need a TV in order to watch cable. However, you can connect a cable box to a computer monitor and watch your favorite shows that way. Here’s how:
- First, you need to gather the right cables. You will need an HDMI cable, a DVI-to-VGA adapter, and a VGA cable. If you don’t have an HDMI cable, you can use a DVI cable, but it won’t carry audio, so you will need to connect your computer’s audio output to your monitor’s audio input. If you don’t have a DVI cable, you can use an S-video cable, but the quality won’t be as good.
- Next, connect the HDMI cable to the back of the cable box and the other end to the back of the monitor. If you are using a DVI cable, connect it to the back of the cable box and the adapter to the other end. Then, connect the VGA cable to the adapter. If you are using an S-video cable, connect it to the back of the cable box and the other end to the S-video input on the back of the monitor.
- Now, turn on the monitor and the cable box. You should see the cable box’s menu on the screen. If you don’t, press the Input or Source button on the monitor until you do. Once you see the menu, use the arrow keys on the cable box’s remote to navigate to the channel you want to watch.
And that’s it! You’re now watching TV on your computer monitor. Enjoy!
