How to Change Your Main Monitor in Windows 10

If you have more than one monitor connected to your computer, you can change which one is your main monitor. Your main monitor is where your Start menu and taskbar appear. It’s also where notifications pop up. If you’re using a laptop, your main monitor is usually your built-in display.

To change your main monitor, use the drop-down menu under “Display” in the “Multiple displays” section of the “System” page in the Settings app.

First, open the Settings app by clicking the Start button, then clicking the Settings cog. Alternatively, you can press Windows+I on your keyboard. Then click “System.”

Click the “Display” tab on the left side of the window. Then, in the “Multiple displays” section on the right, use the drop-down menu under “Display” to select the monitor you want to use as your main display. Your main display will now have the taskbar, Start menu, and notifications.

If you want to change your main monitor back to your built-in display, simply select it from the “Display” drop-down menu.
